Project 2 Restore: How the Women's Fund is Helping Survivors of Human Trafficking

The Women's Fund has been a partner in supporting Project 2 Restore, a residential, faith-based restoration home for survivors of sex trafficking. This partnership helps survivors find hope and healing after enduring unspeakable trauma. Through this collaboration, Project 2 Restore can provide the care and services survivors need to rebuild their lives.

The Role of the Women’s Fund in Direct Care

The Women's Fund plays a role in supporting the direct care of human trafficking survivors by investing in the training of staff, volunteers, and leadership. These training programs focus on educating caregivers about the complex and deeply rooted issues related to sexual exploitation and trauma. With the knowledge gained from these programs, Project 2 Restore’s team is better equipped to provide survivors with comprehensive, compassionate care.

In 2023 alone, Project 2 Restore provided more than 800 hours of training to 21 staff members, focusing on healing the physical, mental, spiritual, educational, and vocational aspects of the survivors' lives.

Meeting the Need for Safe Shelter and Restorative Care

The need for safe and restorative care for human trafficking survivors far outweighs the available resources. Nationally, for every one restoration house bed, there is a need for 13 more. In Topeka, Project 2 Restore has been addressing this need. Over the past two years, the project has provided more than 1,200 safe nights of rest for survivors who are learning to live in fearless freedom, breaking free from the cycle of trauma and exploitation and looking forward to a positive, sustainable future.

With the support from the Women’s Fund, Project 2 Restore is making a lasting difference in the lives of women who have been exploited. The combination of restorative care, faith-based support, and comprehensive training ensures that survivors can move forward, leaving behind their past of exploitation and looking toward a future filled with hope, freedom, and healing.
