Supporting Women in Crisis: How the Women's Fund is Helping Valeo’s Intersection To Care Project

The Women's Fund has been a vital supporter of Valeo Behavioral Health Care’s Intersection To Care (ITC) project, which provides much-needed services to women who have been trafficked, exploited, or are at risk of trafficking. The ITC project’s primary goal is to link these vulnerable women with critical services, including mental health care, employment opportunities, and basic life needs.

How the Women's Fund Supports Valeo's Mission

Grant funding from the Women's Fund has been instrumental in supporting the ITC Resource Liaison position. This crucial role ensures that the services provided to women are coordinated efficiently, helping to bridge the gap between their needs and available resources. Through this support, the Women’s Fund helps Valeo positively impact the lives of women in crisis.

Intersection To Care: A Multi-faceted Approach

Valeo’s Intersection To Care project is designed to address both immediate and long-term needs of women in the criminal justice system and those at risk of exploitation. As of now, the project works with 107 women in the jail system, offering a variety of transformative services:

  • Cognitive behavior classes

  • Movement and meditation classes

  • Technology education classes

  • Material support such as glasses, earplugs, journals, and other basic resources

In addition to the services provided within the jail system, Valeo continues to support 22 women post-incarceration with case management and other ongoing services to ensure a successful reintegration into the community. Currently, Valeo also provides on-going case management to 14 incarcerated women, with the intent to follow up upon their release, continuing the support.

Impact and Success Stories

To date, Valeo has worked with 37 women who have successfully completed the program following their release from incarceration. In addition to these individual successes, Valeo has provided valuable assistance—such as help with communication, transportation, clothing, and identification support—to approximately 4,000 women. These services are vital to helping women transition out of incarceration and into stable, healthy environments where they can thrive.

The efforts of the Women’s Fund help make it possible for Valeo to reach more women, offering hope, support, and a brighter future.
